I have an open and intuitive style, and take a non judgmental supportive approach. At the same time, I am direct and honest with feedback and observations. My therapeutic methods are based on systems theory and I draw primarily from cognitive behavioural, solution focused and emotionally focused modalities. As an uniquely qualified Relationship Professional I will help you to see your situation from a new perspective that supports your strengths and invites change.
Together we will set goals and work towards relationship solutions to help you move forward with life in ways that you want to. If you are one of numerous couples who seek therapy as a last ditch effort to fix things, my hopeful yet realistic approach will help you determine the direction you need to take. I don’t easily give up and will work with you to find ways to save your relationship if at all possible.
You do not need to come with your relationship problems rehearsed or written out. I can help you articulate your concerns and experiences in a safe and supportive environment. I understand that you may be nervous attending the first appointment but I can assure you that you will feel more relaxed by the end of it. My job is to help you find a solution to the problems you are facing.
With relationship counselling, I usually see couples together but sometimes separately too. Although best, it is not necessary that you attend the first session together.
Most of my clients come 4 to 10 times on average with some getting what they need in the first appointment and others taking longer. Many clients return for a session or two once a year. They come back for a “tune up” or whenever another issue arises.
